Bio
Cellist Janice Cheung is an orchestral player, chamber musician, and educator based in Southern California. She currently serves as Principal Cellist of the Corona Symphony Orchestra and also performs regularly with the Coachella Valley Symphony, Temecula Valley Symphony, and other ensembles throughout the region. As an avid chamber musician, Janice has appeared with Enescu Ensemble and received coaching from members of the Pacifica Quartet. She is a founding member of the Four Seasons Camerata, which performs primarily in Orange County, and she enjoys collaborating with a cello ensemble made up of her colleagues from the Corona Symphony cello section.

Fueled by a love for diverse musical styles such as pop, jazz, musicals, and mariachi, Janice is also active in theater productions and recording sessions. She has performed in productions of The Sound of Music, Hadestown, Dogfight, Sunday in the Park with George, and contributed to film soundtracks including William Shakespeare’s The Tempest.
A dedicated teacher for more than a decade, Janice has taught with Harmony Project at the Riverside Arts Academy and Inland Empire Musical Arts, and she currently maintains a private studio in Riverside.

Born in South Korea, Janice began playing the cello at the age of five. Her studies at Sunhwa Arts Middle School in Seoul, Idyllwild Arts Academy, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign strengthened her classical foundation and continue to inspire her musicianship in diverse musical settings.
